Malta’s festi - traditional religious feasts that blend faith, community, and centuries-old traditions. Villages come alive with vibrant colours, music and the unmistakable sounds of Maltese fireworks. Whether you're a first time visitor or a returning traveller, attending a feast in Malta should be included in your plans.
Deeply rooted in the island’s Catholic heritage – each village honours its patron saint with days of celebrations that include;

It isn’t uncommon that a village will celebrate more than one feast, a community performance split between the feasts with months of planning poured into them. Here’s where to catch the upcoming Maltese feasts in June and July:
June
(8 June) Feast of St. Philip – Żebbuġ
One of the oldest and grandest feasts in Malta, which includes a competitive spirit between local bands that keeps the energy high all weekend.
(15 June) Feast of Our Lady of the Lily – Mqabba
Renowned for its world-class fireworks that have broken international records in the past. One of the two feasts in Mqabba boasts synchronised displays set to music and engineered for visual artistry.
(22 June) Feast of St. John the Baptist – Xewkija, Gozo
Xewkija’s feast features vibrant processions on Malta’s sister island, Gozo.
(29 June) Feast of Saints Peter and Paul (L-Imnarja)
One of the few feasts that begins in Mdina and continues into the woodlands of Buskett, with a community picnic-style event.
July
(6 July) Feast of St. Joseph – Kalkara
Kalkara’s feast is known for its scenic waterfront fireworks and beautifully illuminated church facade.
(16 July) Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel – Valletta
Held in the capital city of Malta, expect religious processions throughout the capital, fireworks over the Grand Harbour and music that can be heard echoing off the bastions.
(21 July) Feast of St. George – Victoria, Gozo
Gozo’s capital hosts a week long celebration with massive participation from locals and visitors alike.
Most villages have their own fireworks factories, run by volunteers who are passionate about the art of fireworks. Combining precision with choreography and timing, fireworks are a big part of Maltese feasts that are ingrained into our history and culture.
